Eluru is a culturally rich city and the administrative headquarters of the West Godavari district. It offers numerous tourist attractions, recreational activities, and experiences that infuse traditional Indian culture. The city is well known for its wool-pile carpets and hand woven products.
Air: Nearest Airport to Eluru city is Vijayawada Airport which is 35 km from Eluru City.
Railways: Eluru railway station is classified as an 'A–category station' in the Vijayawada railway division of South Coast Railway zone. Apart from the main station, other stations that serve the city include Powerpet, Denduluru and Vatluru. All these stations are on the Howrah-Chennai main line. Eluru is one of the top 100 booking stations of Indian railways.
Road: National Highway 16, a part of Asian Highway 45 and Golden Quadrilateral highway network, bypasses the city and connects Kolkata with Chennai.
The District Hospital, Eluru has been established under the control of A.P. Vaidya Vidhana Parishad in the year 1952 and has been functioning since then providing Medical and Health services to the citizen of the District as well as the surrounding mandals of the neighboring Districts.
The Hospital is expanded and renovated and Bed Strength was increased to 330 beds and subsequently the bed strength was raised to 400 beds.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to establish a Government Medical College in every district. At present in the state of Andhra Pradesh, there are 11 Government Medical Colleges in 26 Districts.
The Directorate of Medical Education, Andhra Pradesh has furnished a detailed proposal for establishing a Medical college at Eluru with a detailed estimate certified by APMSIDC.
